Life’s a stage for new Biological Sciences academic
It’s a case of art imitating life for newly-appointed academic to the School of Biological Sciences Amy Wyatt who is poised also to appear in a new play to be staged in Wollongong.
Amy, who recently completed her PhD at the University of Wollongong, is soon to play the role of Thomasina in the Tom Stoppard play, ‘Arcadia’.
She plays a young girl living in the 1800s who attempts to theorise scientific concepts surrounding thermodynamics and disorder.
In an interesting clash of ‘real life’ and ‘make-believe’, Amy is now lecturing some of the same concepts to second year biochemistry students.
‘Arcadia’ is a play which combines thought provoking philosophy with beauty, romance, tragedy and the customary Tom Stoppard dash of humour and wit.
Wollongong Workshop Theatre is presenting ‘Arcadia’ from May 1-16 at 194 Gipps Road, Gwynneville. Bookings for the play can be made at 4225 9407.
It will run on Fridays and Saturdays at 8pm and on Sundays at 4pm.
