Microsoft games developer makes special return to UOW

Sean Jenkin helps determine the kind of computer games that could well find their way under somebody’s Christmas tree.

The Informatics graduate from Figtree was back in Wollongong briefly this week visiting from Seattle in the United States where he now works as the Development Lead for the Xbox Live Indie Games within Microsoft.

He is the brains behind gaming hits such as Kameo, Rise of Nations and Fable, and has worked on creating consoles such as Xbox1 and Xbox360.

Sean is now working on a console he says will revolutionise the gaming world which is expected to be released next year.

He paid a special visit to UOW to share some of his expertise with today’s students with a presentation on “Game Development and XNA”.

Sean spent five years at UOW studying part-time and working for a Wollongong software development company before receiving the offer to join Microsoft a few days before he graduated.

He describes his job with Microsoft as a dream come true.
