UOW academic invited to World Innovation Summit for Education
Associate Professor Ian Brown from UOW’s Faculty of Education has been invited to attend the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE) being held from 16-18 November in Doha, Qatar.
Professor Brown’s invitation follows his appointment on to the Advisory Board of the Horizon Report for 2008 and 2009 which is a prestigious global think tank for new technologies for education.
The Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development is launching WISE and Professor Brown received his invitation on behalf of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Missned, Chairperson of the Qatar Foundation.
About 1,000 prominent education, corporate, political and social leaders from around the world will meet to find new ways of shaping educational models for the future.
Participants will address the core issues of pluralism, sustainability and innovation, under the umbrella theme of "Global Education: Working Together for Sustainable Achievements".
Organisers told Professor Brown that his wide-ranging experience and insight would be invaluable assets in defining the vision of education that WISE and its participants wished to bring to the world.
Summit organisers hope that WISE will generate innovative and concrete ideas in all fields of education.
WISE has adopted two innovative programs – firstly, a forum inviting recognised international education experts to debate with leading representatives from a variety of fields around the world and secondly, a WISE Awards 2009 to reward and promote on a global scale cutting-edge initiatives in the education field.
