Sydney Business School research on display at conference
The Sydney Business School held the 2009 SBS Higher Degree Research Student Conference last week.
Keynote speakers at the conference included Professor Fang Lee Cooke from Manchester Business School in the UK, along with Professor Geoffrey Soutar from the University of Western Australia Business School.
Research conducted by higher degree students at the Sydney Business School was covered as well as a number of research student workshops and information sessions. The research topics covered diverse areas, ranging from Thai traditional medicine in health services in Thailand, to accounting for Australia’s carbon footprint, and managing dietetics services in hospitals.
Fang Lee Cooke is Professor of Human Resource Management and Chinese Studies at Manchester Business School. Her research interests are in the area of employment relations, trade unions, gender and employment, strategic HRM, knowledge management and innovation, outsourcing, Chinese outward FDI and Chinese diaspora. Fang is the author of HRM, Work and Employment in China (2005) and Competition, Strategy and Management in China (2008).
Geoff Soutar is a Professor and Nancy Keegan and Don Voelte Distinguished Scholar at the University of Western Australia Business School. Professor His present research interests include marketing of services (particularly educational services), the marketing of technology, the role of design in marketing, service quality measurement and management, agribusiness marketing and marketing’s role in the public sector.
During the conference, a networking dinner was held at 67 Dining, with student prizes being handed out on the night.
