Game development teams’ success

Teams from UOW’s School of Computer Science and Software Engineering (SCSSE) won the 48 hours game challenge held recently in Brisbane.

The teams were given three keywords – ‘storm’, ‘giant’ and ‘love’ and had to develop a game in 48 hours based on the keywords.

There were three pro-league teams (judged separately) and 17 non-professional teams.

See the following website here for details about the competition.

UOW’s winning two teams were:

Best Graphic Award -- Team Friction (four members -- three current UOW students and one recent graduate). Team members were Josh Farquhar, Eddie Evers, Casper Smith and Dave Smith.

The game title was Storm of the Titans.

The overall winner was Black Wolf comprising six members who are all current SCSSE students.

They were Andrew Papadopoulos (team lead/programmer), Rebecca Fernandez (programmer), Stephen Barnes (programmer), James Elphick (programmer), Scott O'Brien (artist/programmer) and Jorden Trudgett (artist).

Their game title was ‘High Hopes’ with the tag line ‘With high hopes a fall can hurt!’
