ITC commended at Premier’s NSW Export Awards
The University of Wollongong’s commercial arm, largest subsidiary and global education provider, ITC, has been highly commended at the recent Premier's NSW Export Awards held in Sydney.
The awards ceremony is an annual program which aims to recognise excellence in the export of goods and services by NSW business.
Although not taking out the Education Export award, ITC was the only finalist to receive the highly commended accolade among the distinguished field of entrants.
ITC’s CEO, Mr Vince Lendrum, said “ITC is a provider of world class education services and our team is driven by the purpose of unlocking potential through learning”.
The focus of its application for the awards this year was its operation of the University of Wollongong in Dubai.
ITC exports the intellectual property required to create and develop an institution founded on the Australian tertiary education model.
Through ITC’s export operations, UOWD has grown from humble beginnings and 8.5 students, to become one of the pre-eminent private universities in the region, with more than 3,500 students.
ITC’s efforts in UOWD were also recognised by Premier Nathan Rees in his key note address, highlighting how “UOWD graduates more students than the campuses of Harvard and Stanford combined” in the Middle East.
Mr Lendrum said it was an honour to receive the award in recognition of ITC’s achievements offshore.
“It was particularly special to receive this alongside our outgoing Chairman Dr Brian Hickman who has served on the ITC Board for 17 years and has been critical in the development of our offshore activities.”
