Batemans Bay Education Access Centre celebrates first anniversary
11 December 2000
The University of Wollongong is celebrating one year of operations on the
South Coast, and enrolments are now being accepted for year two.
Whether potential students have just finished Year 12, or have not studied for
a while, the University is offering a range of degrees at its Batemans Bay Education
Access Centre -- including Arts, Business Administration and Commerce.
The Batemans Bay Education Access Centre, a collaboration between the University
of Wollongong, Illawarra Institute of Technology and Eurobodalla Shire Council,
is an exciting development in education on the South Coast. The primary objective
of the Centre is to provide enhanced education opportunities for residents of
Batemans Bay and the South Coast region.
The Batemans Bay Education Access Centre represents a commitment by the University
of Wollongong to provide tertiary education on the South Coast. In 2000 the
University also opened a similar facility in Bega and a brand new campus in
West Nowra.
Many local students are now entering the second year of study at these new facilities.
The response from the first intake has been overwhelmingly positive as students
enjoy the advantages of a local education provided by Australias University
of the Year for 2000-2001.
Local tutors, flexible timetables, and a range of support services are features
of an education at the Batemans Bay Education Access Centre. Enrolments are
being taken now for 2001 -- contact Ms Gayl Vidgen on 4472 2125.
