Digital media industry comes to university

The latest in digital design will be on display at the University of Wollongong tomorrow (Wednesday 13 December, from 10am to 4pm) during the G_WIZZ workshop and demonstration day.

G_WIZZ is a day-long meeting of industry representatives, students and staff, providing a chance for students to display their digital design skills, and for the design industry to show off its latest software and discuss job opportunities. Lecturers from Illawarra TAFE will also be in attendance.

Representatives of a number of digital design studios will be showing examples of their work in still and video format. Software ‘guru’ Alan Rosenfeld, from Adobe Systems, will also be attending to discuss the latest products and to give advice.

Dr Kurt Brereton, Senior Lecturer in the Faculty of Creative Arts, said the event was a recognition of the growth of the digital media industry in the Illawarra.

"G_WIZZ is about helping to build the region as a hotbed of digital design," Dr Brereton said.

The event will be held in the Faculty of Creative Arts, Building 25 Lab 163 and Room 128.
