New Canadian High Commissioner to visit university's information day

1 August 2001

The University of Wollongong will host a Canadian Information Day tomorrow (Thursday 2 August), that will feature as guest of honour the newly-appointed Canadian High Commissioner, His Excellency Jean Fournier.

The Information Day will involve presentations and information booths on Canadian Studies Grants and on general study opportunities in Canada through the University's Study Abroad Office.

Two members of the University of Wollongong have been awarded International Council of Canadian Studies grants to do research in Canada, one of whom will be in attendance.

The event has been organised by the Centre for Canadian-Australian Studies in conjunction with the University's Study Abroad Office and the Canadian High Commission.

Note: The best photo/filming opportunities would be from 11.30am to 12.30pm in the foyer of the McKinnon Building (Building 67) where the Study Abroad Office and the Canadian High Commission will have information booths set up. The High Commissioner himself can only be available for photographs/filming between 1.15pm to 2.30pm in the McKinnon Bldg Dining Room where he, and the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, will also be involved in the presentation of Canadian Studies awards.

For further information contact Kristi Kenyon on (02) 4221 3737.
