From Olympic rowing coaches to political aspirants for Careers Expo

High profile speakers including Jennie George, Dr Mile Terziovski and Tim McLaren will participate in a Careers Expo to be held at the University of Wollongong tomorrow (Friday, 3 August).

Jennie George is the former President of the ACTU and is the ALP candidate for the seat of Throsby; Dr Terziovski is the Director and Deputy Chair of the European Australian Co-operation Centre at the University of Melbourne; and Tim McLaren is current Olympic rowing coach.

Ms George will discuss the nature of work within trade unions, politics and government while Mr McLaren will focus on sports-related careers, including sports coaching. Dr Terziovski was recently invited by the President of the Republic of Macedonia to participate on an e-Commerce Advisory Committee chaired by the President.

The Careers Expo has been designed to inform students about the connections between the world of work and studying programs in Arts, Science and Health and Behavioural Sciences. The day will feature various industry panels and workshops. The Expo has attracted more than 30 participating organisations from the public and private sectors of health, science, human services and media/communications.

Time and venue: The Expo will run from 11.30am to 2.30pm in Building 41 (Sciences Bldg). The official opening will be at 12.30pm in the foyer of Bldg 41 with the speaker, Jennie George.
