skateboard locks to nursery aid-pot grippers...

The final judging of the 2001 Creative Design Competition will be held at the
University of
Wollongong today (Friday 29 June).
On display will be a range of creative inventions including:
- The skateboard lock
- Nursery aid-pot gripper
- Pedal golf buggy
- Heat 'n' bead footstool
- Remote Control Locator
- Retract-a-lock
There will be awards for the "People's Choice", "Best Oral Presentation",
"Best Technical
Solution", "Best Commercial Potential" and "Overall Winner".
The competition is the end result of first year engineering students applying
their skills to
solving some of the more interesting problems in the community. Prizes are sponsored
by local
industries, the Illawarra/Sutherland Regional Group of the Institution of Engineers,
Australia, and the Faculty of Engineering.
Time and venue: The awards evening today begins at 7pm with final judging
at about 9.30pm.
It will be held in the Communications Building (Building 20), Lecture Theatre
1.
