University
partner in revolutionary e-Marketing project
29 June 2001
The University of Wollongong, through its Student Services division, is collaborating
with Australian web company Web IT in the production of its exciting eCatalogue
project launched recently in Sydney.
The proposed
partnership will allow the University and students to benefit from assisting
in the production of the electronic catalogues which are designed to reduce
the costs and waste associated with traditional catalogue printing and sampling
as well as increase the efficiency of business marketing and promotions.
The University
is establishing an enterprise education program in which students will be employed
to produce the electronic catalogues and in the process develop valuable workplace
skills. As students develop their skills they will take on more complex roles,
which will require them to focus on issues such as teamwork, project management
and quality assurance. Students will also participate in a training program,
which will enable them to develop their skills in these areas.
This program
will be of use to students whose study focus is in IT and graphic design, as
well as students of the humanities and sciences, who will be able to demonstrate
how their studies can enable the development of transferable skills which are
of use in the graduate workplace. Students will document their skill development
through use of the University's innovative on-line Career Management Plan, which
assists students to consolidate their move to graduate employment when they
have completed their studies. Through this collaboration with Web IT, students
will also develop valuable links with the graduate employment sector.
University
of Wollongong's External Relations Manager, Mr Canio Fierravanti said the University
was delighted at being able to collaborate on such an exciting and innovative
Australian product.
