University to host
the ultimate frisbee championships25
May 2001
The University of Wollongong will host the 2001 ultimate frisbee championships
on Saturday 26 May and Sunday 27 May.
Twelve teams from the Eastern University Division will compete in this new team
sport.
It is played on a rectangular field much like American football with two scoring
or end zones.
Corey Bocking from UOW's Recreation and Aquatic Centre said the game could be
described as a "cross between American football and netball with a frisbee
or disk instead of a ball".
The aim of the game is to catch the frisbee/disk in the opponent's end zone
to score a point.
Where: All
games will be played on the UOW campus sports ovals.
When: The competition will begin at 9am on 26 May and end at about 2pm
on 27 May.
Further information: Contact Corey Bocking on 4221 5336.
