Wollongong
tops again for 'graduate outcomes'
30 August 2001
For the overall
educational experience of students and outcomes for graduates such as obtaining
a job, the University of Wollongong (UOW) has been recognised for the second
successive year as Australia's most successful university.
The results are included in the latest Good Universities Guide to Universities,
TAFEs and Private Colleges for 2002. The guide works using star ratings (maximum
of five stars per category).
UOW scored the highest number of stars against all other universities (27 out
of a possible 30) for the key areas of students' overall educational experience
and graduate outcomes.
The area of educational experience included (a) graduate rating, (b) staff-student
ratios and (c) staff qualifications. The area of graduate outcomes included
(a) getting a job, (b) positive graduate outcomes and (c) graduate starting
salary.
The guide is regarded nationally and internationally as a truly independent
analysis of the performance of universities.
University of Wollongong Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, said it was
extremely pleasing to see the University maintain its leading edge in the star
rankings.
