Wollongong
defies national graduate job trend
11
December 2001
Employment prospects
for University of Wollongong graduates have improved in the last year contrary
to a slight worsening in job prospects for bachelor degreee graduates nationally.
Figures released
late today (Tuesday 11 December) by the Graduate Careers Council of Australia
show that UOW has an employment rate of 93.2 per cent against a national figure
of 83.1 per cent. Last year's Graduate Council figures showed UOW has an employment
rate of 93 per cent compared to a national total of 83.6 per cent.
The Vice-Chancellor,
Professor Gerard Sutton, said the figures clearly demonstrate how well the University
has maintained its graduate employability rate.
"The University
has shown its outstanding ability to ensure its graduates are more than competitive
in the Australian job market," Professor Sutton said.
The Graduate Careers
Council of Australia's Graduates Destination Survey is a study of the activities
of new university graduates around four months after the completion of their
qualifications.
