Youth lectures for intelligent polymer research

Professor Leon Kane-Maguire, of the Department of Chemistry, will present the Royal Australian Chemical Institute Nyholm Youth Lectures for 2001 to Years 10, 11 and 12 school students.

The next lecture to be given will be this afternoon (Thursday 7 June) at 4.15pm in the McKinnon Building at the University of Wollongong. Other lectures will follow at Kelso High School (13 June), St Joseph's College Campbelltown (14 June), Abbotsleigh High School, Sydney (18 June) and Mount Austin High School, Wagga Wagga (20 June).

The lectures centre on new intelligent plastic materials being used in the electronic nose and artificial muscles as well as in fabrics that can be used as biomonitors in sports applications.
