defence analyst and author to speak at UOW

International defence
analyst and widely published author Dr Norman Friedman will speak at a
special public lecture to be held at the University of Wollongong on Monday
October 4.
Dr Friedman has served
as a consultant to the US Secretary of the Navy, and has lectured in numerous
naval institutions including the Hudson Institute, the Naval War College,
the Naval Postgraduate School and the British Ministry of Defence.
He has been interviewed
on many radio shows and holds degrees in physics and electrical engineering.
Dr Friedman currently works as a defence analyst concerned primarily with
the interaction between technology and tactical, strategic and policy
issues.
He has published 26
books including 'Desert Victory: The War for Kuwait', 'The Fifty Year
War: Conflict and Strategy in the Cold War', 'The Hidden Domain: Home
of the Quantum Wave Function' and most recently ' Seapower as Strategy'.
He also publishes a monthly column on 'World Naval Developments' in the
Proceedings of the US Naval Institute. Dr Friedman was recently featured
in the ABC TV series 'Battleships'.
Following the public
lecture titled "The Future Global Security Environment: The Maritime Dimension",
Dr Friedman will be available for interview.
