Bega Nursing
Program gets the go ahead
13-September-2002
The University of
Wollongong has received the go-ahead from the Nurses' Registration Board
to run a Bachelor of Nursing Degree at the Bega Education Access Centre.
A bridging program
offered by TAFE NSW Illawarra Institute, will allow enrolled nurses
who successfully complete the course to articulate into the second year
of the University of Wollongong Bachelor of Nursing Degree in February
2003.
The approval represents
the culmination of many months of work and planning by staff from the
University and TAFE NSW. It means that enrolled nurses who complete the
bridging course will be able to enrol in the second year of the three-year
Nursing Degree and have the choice to continue to work and earn an income
while they study.
Bega Education Access
Coordinator Anne Montague said that an information session was being held
for those people interested in the program.
Applicants with a
Certificate IV in Enrolled Nursing are eligible to undertake the course.
The information session
will be held on Friday 20 September at 2pm at the Bega Education Access
Centre. Representatives from the University and TAFE NSW Illawarra Institute
will be present. Potential
applicants should bring copies of their qualifications and other documents
to the session. The anticipated starting date for the bridging program
is Tuesday 8 October.
