Breakfast with
the stars...
26-August-2002
Year 11 students from
the Illawarra and Sutherland Shire will have breakfast with the stars
on Thursday 29 August, at the University of Wollongong's Role Model Breakfast
at the Novotel Northbeach.
Olympic swimmer Daniel
Kowalski and advertising industry whiz-kid Amanda Stevens will recount
their experiences to the students at the breakfast at the Novotel Northbeach
at North Wollongong. Former world swimming champion Daniel is a by-word
for courage and perseverance after his legendary battles with Keiran Perkins
in long distance swimming events, while Amanda started her Splash Advertising
Agency in Sydney at the age of 21, and in the six years since has made
it a major success.
Members of the University's
Steel City Racer team a racing car design project which won its Australian
competition and figured prominently in the world finals in the United
States, will also give a presentation.
The University of
Wollongong has invited Sutherland Shire's 19 high schools and Illawarra's
25 to nominate three Year 11 students each to attend the breakfast, designed
to offer inspiration and motivation to students preparing for their final
year of high school. It also gives students from the Illawarra and Sutherland
Shire the opportunity to interact with each other, and discuss their hopes
and dreams for the future.
Wollongong is the
university of choice for both areas, attracting more school leavers than
any other university.
