Automated water
taps for elderly on show at Electrical Engineering Trade Fair
28-October-2002
An automated water
tap designed to assist the elderly, amputees or people with arthritis
will be just one of the innovative projects on display at the University
of Wollongong's annual Electrical Engineering Trade Fair.
The trade fair, hosted
by the School of Electrical, Computer and Telecommunications Engineering
will be held at the University from 3pm to 5.30pm on Friday October 1.
It will showcase
products developed by second and third year students enrolled in Engineering
Design and Management, Mechatronics Design and Internet Science and Technology.
Other products on
show will include an online fitness and gym planner, a student real estate
web site, an internet VCR controller and a braille keyboard and braille
learning package.
The projects allow
students to explore concepts such as teamwork, project control, budgeting
and, in general, the design enterprise.
Prizes will be presented
to the groups with the most popular displays by guests attending the trade
fair. Everyone is invited to come along and see the unique types of products
being developed by students at the University of Wollongong.
Photo/filming opportunity:
Photos and interviews can be arranged prior to the trade fair, by contacting
Dr Geoff Trott or Associate Professor Golshah Naghdy on 4221 3065.
