Economic Forum conference

About 10 countries
will be represented at the Asia Pacific Economic Forum (APEF) conference
being held at the University of Wollongong tomorrow Friday 5 July and
Saturday 6 July.
Among those attending
the two-day conference are a Deputy Minister of Small Medium Enterprises
from Indonesia and a former Minister of the Economy of the Philippines.
APEF was set up in Chunchon in Korea last year to deal with major economic
and trade issues for the ASEAN+3 (China, Korea and Japan) integration
from an APEF perspective.
Associate Professor
Jimmy Tran Van Hoa from the University of Wollongong was elected APEF's
2002 President. The theme of the conference is titled "Impact of
crises on trade, regionalism and globalisation in Asia and Australia"
and the sponsors are AusAID and the Small Medium Enterprises Research
Centre at the University of Wollongong.
