Study of health
information in women's magazines
24-July-2002 A PhD student at the
University of Wollongong's Graduate School of Public Health is undertaking
research focusing on health information in women's magazines and women's
overall food choices and nutrition concerns.
Danielle Lidgard's
thesis is entitled "Nutrition discourses in the printed mass media
and among women; a longitudinal study".
She is looking for
female volunteers who are:
- Aged 25-34 years
or aged 45-54 years
- From all backgrounds
- From any health
status or social or cultural background
The first phase of
the research project involves participation in one group discussion. The
discussion will focus on health information in women's magazines.
Women who participate
in the first phase of the research will be invited to continue on to the
second phase. [Participation in the first phase of the project does not
obligate the participant to be involved in the second phase of the research
project].
The second phase of
the research project involves four interviews with the researcher over
a period of 18 months. Interviews will focus on women's food choices and
their nutrition concerns.
