Australian Ambassador
to Thailand to visit University of Wollongong

The University of
Wollongong's significant links with Thailand will be enhanced with
the visit of the Australian Ambassador to Thailand, Mr Miles Kupa, to
the University tomorrow (Thursday, 20 June).
Mr Kupa will undertake
a tour of the campus in the company of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor
Gerard Sutton and also will meet other senior representatives of the University
when he will present an address on "Thailand and Australia's
Regional Outlook". The Ambassador will be accompanied on the visit
by the NSW State Director of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Mr Phillip Green.
The University of
Wollongong has one of the largest intakes of undergraduate and postgraduate
Thai students in the country. Among the University's prominent
Thai graduates is HRH Princess Chulabhorn Mahidol who received an Honorary
Doctorate in Science in 1999. The University also has formal links with
key higher education institutions in Thailand involving co-operative programs.
