Principals' Recommendation Scheme for University of Wollongong's Highlands and South Coast Campuses announced
Sep 22, 2003
The University of Wollongong's Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Rob Castle, has announced the introduction of a new "Principals' Recommendation Scheme" for the University's Moss Vale and South Coast campuses. Professor Castle said that the 'Principals' Recommendation Scheme' meant that a potential student's aptitude for tertiary study was considered - not just their academic results at school. Students can now take advantage of the scheme by applying for consideration before December but they must have a Moss Vale or South Coast Campus selected in their University Admission Centre Application (UAC) form. Professor Castle said the scheme had been given unanimous support by the various university faculties so potential Arts, Commerce, Business Administration and Information Technology students will all benefit from this introduction. He said the scheme recognised the success of students at Moss Vale, Shoalhaven, Batemans Bay and Bega campuses achieving above average results in comparison to the main Wollongong campus. Professor Castle said there were many advantages for students who chose to study locally. "The University recognises the special relationship of the students to their location. Students need not suffer from the dislocation of moving to study. Students can keep their jobs and stay at home," he said. "Students also benefit from small class sizes, accessible staff and switched-on technology," Professor Castle said. Applications for the 'Principals' Recommendation Scheme' close in December.
