CAPSTRANS to launch new website and research directions

CAPSTRANS (CENTRE FOR ASIA PACIFIC SOCIAL TRANSFORMATION STUDIES) The Centre for Asia Pacific Social Transformation Studies (CAPSTRANS) will relaunch its website on Wednesday 1 October at 10am at the University of Wollongong, including the new research directions being undertaken at the Centre. CAPSTRANS is an Australian Research Council Key Centre for Teaching and Research and a joint venture of the University of Wollongong and the University of Newcastle. The University's Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research) Professor Margaret Sheil will preside over the official launch and morning tea. The website has been completely redesigned by The University of Wollongong's Web Development Team and by staff at CAPSTRANS to offer a sharper focus for both current and prospective scholars and students. It highlights CAPSTRANS' role as a centre of research excellence in the study of the Asia-Pacific region. The site features CAPSTRANS' new research directions under its seven research themes: Labour and Mobility; Citizenship and Globalisation; Science, Technology and Intellectual Property; Law and Development; Cultural Change and Representation; Community and Sustainability; and Corporate Governance and Financial Markets. CAPSTRANS is at an exciting time in its development and one of the roles of the new website is also to reflect this. New director Professor Christoph Antons sees the website as a playing a vital role in international recognition of CAPSTRANS excellence in learning and research in the Asia Pacific.
