Nominations open for 2004 OCTAL Awards
Nov 10, 2003
Nominations are now open for the 2004 University of Wollongong Vice-Chancellor's Awards for Outstanding Contribution to Teaching and Learning (OCTAL Awards). These awards recognise individuals and teams who contribute to the University of Wollongong's goal of offering the best learning environment for students. Last year, the Vice-Chancellor's Teaching Award was won by Dr Brett Lemass from the Faculty of Engineering, whose referees emphasised that he is an inspiring teacher who achieves excellent results. This year's awards have added several new categories including: * 'Student Services' that will allow recognition to academic staff who provide outstanding support services * 'Innovations in Teaching and Learning' that will recognise applicants who have made a major contribution through teaching and learning initiatives other than the direct teaching of students * 'Teaching and Learning' continues to recognise and reward outstanding teaching at the University. Nominations of academic staff are invited until Friday 28th November 2003. Nominators must have first-hand knowledge of the excellence of the staff they nominate. Either individuals or teams may be nominated and several of the winners will be put forward for a national award, as part of the prestigious Australian Awards for University Teaching (AUTC) process.
