'Faces of the University' promotion for 2004 enrolments
Nov 14, 2003
Three University of Wollongong students have been chosen to be the 'Faces of the University' in a series of posters designed to promote 2004 enrolments at UOW's Shoalhaven Campus in West Nowra. The posters, which will be placed in South Coast newspapers and letterboxes, are advertising an Information Evening to be held at the campus on November 27. The students are Amy Dawes, Mark King and former student and graduate Lee Carmichael. Amy is in her third year of a Bachelor of Business Administration (Hospitality) degree -- a joint offering between the University of Wollongong (Shoalhaven) and TAFE. She is planning a working holiday to France on completion of her degree to gain experience in some of the top European hotels. Mark is completing a Bachelor of Commerce Degree in Accounting at the Shoalhaven Campus. He plans to use the degree to become a chartered accountant. Lee was one of the first students to graduate from the Shoalhaven Campus. He is a graduate of the Bachelor of Arts (Community and Environment) degree program. Following his graduation, Lee began a career in town planning with Shoalhaven City Council. Lee said that he was sure his familiarity with leading-edge educational technologies helped him get the job. The Head of Shoalhaven Campus, Ms Robbie Collins, said that it was another example of the local university campus providing real opportunities for local students. "Our campus serves an extraordinary variety of learning needs and provides a valuable service to the Shoalhaven community. Shoalhaven students achieve outstanding results thanks to our small class sizes, high staff-student ratios and high-level technologies," Ms Collins said. The Information Evening will begin at 6.30pm on Thursday, November 27 in the University Building at the Shoalhaven Campus, George Evans Drive, West Nowra. "Anyone who has ever considered degree study should attend this evening. It is an opportunity that could change one's life," Ms Collins said.
