Maritime Policy Centre wins Indonesian ministry contract

The Centre for Maritime Policy at the University of Wollongong has won a bid to run a Master of Maritime Policy course on contract for the Indonesian Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries for 15 students. Two Indonesian officials will be in Wollongong today (Thursday September 9) to sign the contract. In May this year, the Centre for Maritime Policy was invited by the Government of Indonesia to submit a bid for an Asian Development Bank (ADB) funded Masters course in Maritime Studies/Policy for 15 Indonesian government officials. It follows the successful running of an ADB-funded Masters program in Maritime Studies/Policy for the Indonesian Government in 2002/2003. The total value of the contract is about A$1,245,000. Students are expected to begin their English language course at UOW's Wollongong University College in October this year. The two Indonesian officials will visit UOW on September 9 and 10 to familiarise themselves with the University and to sign the contract.
