Law, science and citizenship expert speaks at UOW

International authority on the interactions of law, science and politics in democratic societies PROFESSOR SHEILA JASANOFF will be visiting the University of Wollongong next week. Professor Jasanoff, Pforzheirmer Professor of Science and Technology Studies at Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government, will present a public lecture entitled Science and Citizenship in a Postnational World. In the lecture, Professor Jasanoff will explore how the concept of citizenship can focus our attention on the desired forms of integration between science and society. Using examples of the politics of the global environment, she will show how citizens are acquiring tacit rights as producers and holders of knowledge. The UOW Faculty of Arts is presenting Professor Jasanoff’s lecture, which will be held at Room 1003, Building 19 on Monday, 15 August at 4.30pm.
