Aug 25, 2005
The University of Wollongong will play host tomorrow (Friday 26 August) to a NSW/ACT Language and Academic Skills Seminar which will involve a guest lecture by a Stanford University specialist. Professor Andrea Lunsford, Professor of English and Director of the Program in Writing and Rhetoric from Stanford University, will present a view from the United States on the latest in language and academic skills, at the seminar which has been organised by UOW’s Learning Development. Her scholarly interests include contemporary theoretical theory, women and the history of rhetoric, collaboration and collaborative writing, current cultures of writing, intellectual property and composing, style, and technologies of writing. Other academics from NSW and ACT universities will give presentations about learning advising issues. While UOW today (25 August) hosts a gathering of representatives from Australian universities looking at how Wollongong has been named the national training centre for the Peer Assisted Study Session (PASS) Program, the event tomorrow (Friday) is another example of why UOW was this month named the best university in the country for teaching and learning performance. Venue: Function Room 4, UniCentre (Bldg 11) Time: 9.30am to 4pm. Please note that the special guest speaker, Professor Andrea Lunsford, from Stanford University, USA, will present her address from 10.50am to 11.40pm.
