Beneficiaries to include those with disabilities and the region's youth The four winning recipients of the inaugural University-Community Engagement Projects will be announced at a ceremony to be held at the University of Wollongong tomorrow (Friday 2 September). The Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic), Professor Rob Castle, will officiate at the event while Wollongong businessman and UOW's Community Engagement Committee chairperson, David Morgan Williams, will announce the successful projects. Projects that will receive funding assistance will range from those trying to assist children and their carers with disability needs; indigenous health support; improvements in water testing and collection of weather data; to identifying issues affecting youth in the region. The Community Engagement Grants Scheme was introduced in 2005 to encourage and support research, educational or outreach projects that increase UOW's engagement with the communities it serves. Project leaders from each of the four winning projects will present brief summaries of what they plan to undertake.
