MEDIA ALERT: Message of compassion from Bali victim’s sister

Oct 07, 2005

On the eve of Wednesday’s third anniversary of the 2002 Bali Bombings in Kuta, Australians are again reeling after another spate of bombings on the Indonesian island.

This latest tragedy has inspired University of Wollongong PhD student Georgia Lysaght to talk about the death of her brother Scott who was killed in Kuta in 2002.

Scott, aged 33 from Wollongong, and four of his team mates from the Komodos Rugby team died in the terrorist bombings.

Georgia has been a regular visitor to Indonesia as part of her PhD studies on the political economy in Indonesia and to observe the trials of those accused of the 2002 bombings.

As Georgia and her family struggle to come to terms with Scott’s death, she has a strong message of compassion and empathy for the Indonesian people and the victims of the 2002 and 2005 bombings.

Media please note: Georgia will be available for media interviews and photo opportunities on Tuesday 11 October in the Cordeaux Room, UniCentre Bldg 11 from 11.00-12pm.

Parking: Short-term parking is available in the Parking Station, Level E, Multi-storey car park. Entry is via the Western gate.
