Students about to get swingin’ . . .
Jul 19, 2006
PHOTO/FILMING OPPORTUNITY OF STUDENT MUSICAL PRODUCTION Creative Arts students from the University of Wollongong will present Things Are Swingin’ -- a variety of jazz performances by a team of vocalists alongside a traditional band line-up from Thursday 27 July to Saturday 29 July. David Van Eyk, who is the producer and music director for Things Are Swingin’, said student productions were often created by Creative Arts students to provide further opportunities for their professional development in addition to their coursework. He said the production will take the audience behind the scenes of a radio broadcast as hit jazz songs from the 1940s are performed by a brilliant cast with a skilled studio band. Sarah Lambert from CEDIR, who is the Director of the University of Wollongong Choir and Sapphire Lounge Singers, is collaborating on the project with vocal and dramatic direction. Where: The Performance Space, Faculty of Creative Arts (Bldg 25). When: At 7pm from Thursday 27 July to Saturday 29 July. Bookings are recommended by phoning Brooke on 4221 4889. Cost is $15 for adults and $9 concession. Further information: Contact David Van Eyk on 0402 606132 or Sarah Lambert on 0425 246519. **Please note: The Media Unit can supply on request a high-resolution photo of the students in rehearsal.
