UOW listed in Top 200 World University Rankings

Oct 06, 2006

The University of Wollongong has been listed in the Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 World University Rankings.

The THES-QS World University Rankings list the Top 500 universities from an estimated 15,000 institutions across the globe. UOW was placed in the Top 200 list, ranked 196.

Since its first publication in 2004, the Rankings have generated international interest and debate all over the world.

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, said the ranking was a testament to UOW’s standing in the international community.

“This ranking puts us in an elite group of world-class universities,” he said.

“It is a great tribute to all general and academic staff, as well as to all our former graduates.”

Universities are ranked by several indicators of academic and research performance, including academic peer review, recruiter review, student faculty ratio, citations per faculty member, proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students.
