Pre seed round of financing led by Allen & Buckeridge Emerging Technology Fund now closes The University of Wollongong’s first spin-off company, enikos, has received significant venture capital funding allowing it to develop software technology with enormous potential in the news and entertainment sectors. Enikos is now progressing to profitable commercialisation and has also been accepted as a partner in the Australian Technology Showcase (ATS) program which aims to support and assist the development of those Australian business enterprises with innovative technologies. Enikos has announced that it has closed a pre seed round of financing led by Allen & Buckeridge Emerging Technology Fund (A&B ETF). Allen & Buckeridge has offices in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and Silicon Valley with the firm currently managing about $250 million spread across several funds. Its newest fund, the A&B ETF, is one of only four pre-seed funds licensed by the Federal Government and invests in research and development originating out of Australian universities and other government-funded research organisations. The funding will bolster enikos’ new product development efforts and international expansion and the continued development of the intellectual property portfolio. The Chief Executive Officer of A&B ETF, Mr David Landers, has joined enikos’ board of directors. “It is exciting to be the one of a select few pre seed companies targeted for investment by the ETF fund,” said enikos Chief Executive Officer, Mr Jonathon Wolfe. He said it was a tremendous validation of the company’s business model and an endorsement for its current vision. Enikos has been developing tools and software services that will enable the next stage in the evolution of digital multimedia. The multimedia age has brought a countless number of devices designed to make life easier, more entertaining and more efficient including mobile telephones, computers and audio devices like iPods. “IT experts have been grappling with one of the greatest limitations of these devices – the fact that many have completely different frameworks and content that cannot be simply shared,” Mr Wolfe said. Enikos’ tools will provide for the efficient and effective combination of user generated and professionally created content in a protected and comprehensive way that does not limit any one users creativity or capacity for innovation, Mr Wolfe said.
