Graduate Careers Fair UOW's Careers Service has been involved in staging the Illawarra Graduate Careers Fair for the past five years and this year's event is being held tomorrow (10 May) to coincide with Innovation Festival activities. It will be staged in a market styled atmosphere in the University Hall from 10.30am to 1.30pm. Manager of UOW’s Careers Service, Mr Martin Smith, said the event was staged to highlight to students that attractive graduate career options exist within the region. He said it also assisted the region to attract the talent, knowledge and innovation which the University develops. Participating organisations will be: 360HR Pty Ltd, Accenture, Adecco, Andrew Corporation, Australian Computer Society, Australian Hydrographic Service, BHP Billiton, BlueScope Steel, Boral Limited, Cardno Forbes Rigby, Hatch, Hunter Valley Administration, Illawarra Mercury, Internetrix, IPA Personnel, Itree Pty Ltd, Oasis Asset Management, Office of the Employment Advocate, Pillar Administration, Shellharbour City Council, teach.NSW (Department of Education and Training), Tyree Transformers, University of Wollongong – UniAdvice and Wollongong City Council. Management student poster project Management students will demonstrate their creativity, enthusiasm and knowledge of the application of management theory to real world corporate problems in a major poster display to be held tomorrow (10 May) in the foyer of the McKinnon Building from 10.30am to 12.30pm. To demonstrate their understanding of the challenges managers face in organisations, 330 students will present 66 posters on a range of management issues. Key organiser of the display, Dr Mario Fernando (School of Management and Marketing), said the group poster assessment was part of a simulation exercise to develop students’ appreciation of the real complexities involved in managing contemporary organisations.
