The Centre for Transnational Crime Prevention (CTCP) at the University of Wollongong is hosting a delegation of 15 high-ranking Chinese Ministry of Public Security representatives.
The delegates are from 11 different provinces in China and represent various departments within the Ministry.
The purpose of the educational visit by the delegates is to undertake an Australian Federal Police/Australian Leadership Award Fellowship Program in leadership and policing. The program has been developed in conjunction with the Australian Federal Police.
CTCP Director Associate Professor Doug Mackinnon said the workshops would provide counter terrorism theory and practical training to participants.
Along with presentations from CTCP and UOW staff and students, the program also includes presentations by the Australian Federal Police, NSW Police, Victoria Police, Department of Immigration and Citizenship and Australian Customs Service.
The visitors are in Wollongong until October 9 before they depart for Canberra and Sydney.
