UOW listed again in world’s top 200 universities

The University of Wollongong has again been listed in The Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 World University Rankings.
There are more than 17,500 institutions worldwide vying for a spot in The Times’ Top 200 List. Last year 13 Australian universities made the Top 200 list while this year only 12 have made the list.
Since its first publication in 2004, the rankings have generated international interest and debate all over the world.
News of UOW’s success will come as no surprise to the employers of many of the University’s graduates who were surveyed for the first time as part of The Times’ ranking process. UOW in August this year received a maximum five star ranking from the Good Universities Guide in the graduate outcomes category.
Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton, said this announcement, coupled with the recent news that UOW has been placed in the Top 500 academic rankings of world universities by the respected Institute of Higher Education at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, was clear testament to UOW’s standing in the international community.
The Shanghai Jiao Tong University rankings are strongly weighted in favour of research.
Universities in The Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 World University Rankings are ranked by several indicators of academic and research performance including academic peer review, recruiter review, student faculty ratio, citations per faculty member, proportion of international faculty and proportion of international students.
Professor Sutton said UOW’s success again in The Times Higher Education Supplement Top 200 World University Rankings was a great tribute to all UOW’s general and academic staff as well as to the University’s former graduates.
Professor Sutton also paid special tribute to the many employers who were prepared to participate in The Times’ survey determining how employers rated UOW graduates.
