Student wins special internship with the Dragons

Alexa Theofanou’s passion for sports and sports marketing has paid off by securing the first of a newly-created paid internship with the St George Illawarra Dragons Rugby League Football Club.
The club was looking for a driven and committed marketing student to work with the club over the summer period from November to March next year.
The internship was only available to second year marketing students and Alexa gained her spot with the club after eight potential candidates were interviewed.
Alexa, who is studying a double degree in Commerce and Law, will work in the club’s Consumer Products and Services Department in Wollongong.
Head of the marketing discipline, Mr Greg Kerr, said it was the start of an annual program that would hopefully continue with the club in the future.
Mr Kerr said the faculty would maintain close relations with the St George Illawarra Dragons in an ongoing effort to make available to students exciting work placement opportunities – particularly in the region.
