University to showcase excellence to high school careers advisers

The University will play host to about 100 high school careers advisers and TAFE counsellors at its 19th annual Showcase of Excellence event tomorrow (Wednesday 26 March).
The Showcase of Excellence is a day of informative presentations about the special qualities of the University of Wollongong and the opportunities that UOW provides for its students. Presentations across the day include:
Official welcome by the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Gerard Sutton
Presentation on “Excellence in Partnerships” by the Vice-Principal (Administration), Mr Chris Grange
Creative Arts portfolios presentation with Siobhan Lenihan, Faculty Executive Manager, Faculty of Creative Arts
Scholarships at UOW with Monique Harper-Richardson from the Office of Community and Partnerships
Presentation by students from each faculty briefly highlighting their various experiences at UOW and then opening the floor to questions
Presentation on excellence in health research with Professor Julie Steele, Head of the School of Health Sciences
Presentation on the current climate of the tertiary sector and UOW developments with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Operations), Professor John Patterson
Presentation on the excellence in law with Associate Professor Kay Maxwell who is Associate Dean in Law (Teaching and Learning) together with graduate student Ashley Tsacalos who is a partner in Deacons Lawyers
The University’s National Marketing Manager, Ms Emily Christofides, will act as MC for the day’s activities.

The event will be held mainly in the University Hall between 9am-1pm. Guests will then attend lunch with UOW senior executive staff at 1pm in the UniCentre Function rooms 1-4, (Level 2, Building 11).
