School students invited to explore creative side
27 May 2008 | Bernie Goldie
High school students are invited to explore their creative sides at the Faculty of Creative Arts Information Evening, tonight at UOW.
The Faculty will host the evening for Year 12 students interested in studying Creative Arts. The aim of the night will be to let students and their parents explore the faculty, and to launch Early Entry which has not been available in the Creative Arts Faculty before.
Previously the Early Entry scheme has only been available in selected faculties at UOW, but it is being rolled out across all nine faculties for students beginning university in 2009.
Although Creative Arts regular entry, where interviews and auditions take place after HSC exams are over, is still available, students are now invited to apply through Early Entry. With the new scheme, students who apply early can find out if they have a place in a Creative Arts degree before sitting their exams.
As well as finding out about Early Entry, students will be able to speak with staff and current students about what it is like to study at UOW, browse the faculty galleries, and see the studios and facilities on offer.
They will also be given tips on how to make the most of their auditions and interviews, and how to put together a good application and portfolio. These are essential skills for students as they complete their high school studies and will be invaluable when applying for scholarships, jobs and university.
The Information Evening will begin in the McKinnon Building (Bld 67) foyer at 6.30pm.
