Public lecture: regional tourism and Google

Tourism marketing guru, Professor Daniel Fesenmaier from Temple University, Philadelphia is visiting the University of Wollongong from 12 to 16 January 2009.

Professor Fesenmaier has travelled from chilly Philadelphia to Wollongong to present a seminar on ‘Regional Tourism and Destination Marketing’ on Thursday 15 January (tomorrow) at 10am, in building 38.G01.

Members of the public and local tourism operators are encouraged to attend the free lecture.

“The seminar is about Search Engine Marketing, and how tourism organisations can use search engines like Google to market their product,” he said.

A guest of the Faculty of Commerce, Professor Fesenmaier will also share his 25 years of experience at a research workshop with members of the Faculty’s Marketing Research Innovation Centre (MRIC).

Professor Fesenmaier is Director of the National Laboratory for Tourism at Temple University. His research includes emerging technologies in tourism marketing, the branding of tourism destinations and the nature of decision making in pleasure travel.

He has published extensively and is regarded as a world leader in this field of Tourism and IT.
