Social responsibility and the global financial crisis
SInet (or Social Innovation Network) will tomorrow (Thursday 6 August) conduct a seminar focused on ‘Social responsibility and global financial crisis: The missing link’.
SInet is a networked collaboration between complementary groups of researchers in the field of social innovation at the University of Wollongong. Master of ceremonies for tomorrow’s event will be the Dean of Commerce, Professor Shirley Leitch.
Four addresses will be presented:
‘In Government We trust: Market Failure and the Delusion of Privatisation’ by Professor Warwick Funnell
‘Social Responsibility and the Global Financial Crisis: It’s all in the Execution’ by Mr Paul Mazzola
‘Privileging Capital at any Cost’ by Associate Professor Mary Kaidonis
‘Social Innovation, Financial Innovation and the Law of Unanticipated Consequences by Dr Eduardo Pol
Professor Funnell has written extensively on the impact of marketisation of the state upon the accountability of governments while Mr Mazzola is now with UOW’s School of Accounting and Finance following a career in banking and finance spanning more than 20 years covering the Australian and Asian Pacific markets.
Before becoming an academic, Associate Professor Kaidonis was in public practice working in auditing, taxation and management consulting and also has experience in manufacturing and the public sector. Dr Pol from UOW’s School of Economics, has been researching, teaching and consulting in business innovation during the past decade.
Time/date and venue: The seminar will run from 5pm to 8pm, Thursday 6 August, at the Ocean Room (Ic Central Bldg), Innovation Campus, Squires Way, Fairy Meadow
